Goldman sees September Fed rate hike as unlikely as bitcoin holds range

Goldman Sachs described a September Federal Reserve interest-rate increase as very unlikely after softer economic data on retail sales, employment and inflation, according to Chief Economist Jan Hatzius.

Bitcoin traded around $63,500, up 1% since midnight UTC, and remained within a $62,000 to $66,000 range that has held for more than a month.

Traders priced a 30.6% chance that the Fed would raise its benchmark rate by 25 basis points to a 3.75% to 4% range, with most expecting rates to stay unchanged, according to CME FedWatch data cited in the material.
