MSU sanctions Sigma Alpha Epsilon after drug video circulates
Michigan State University has issued a Deferred Loss of Registration to the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity following the circulation of a video showing alleged members using illicit drugs. The sanction, issued on October 27, classifies the incident as other prohibited conduct, requiring the group to comply with specific terms while maintaining its affiliation with the university.
President Kevin Guskiewicz described the incidents as deeply concerning in a statement posted to social media. Spokesperson Emily Guerrant confirmed that the university has begun an immediate investigation into the chapter. The video, posted on October 30, features a montage of members using substances and includes captions referencing a recent drug ring at Penn State University.
A cease and desist letter was delivered to the fraternity to halt all activities while the review process unfolds. The national office of Sigma Alpha Epsilon was unable to immediately comment on the situation.
