Arab voters in Michigan weigh Gaza policy as election season returns

Arab American voters in Michigan remain focused on U.S. policy toward Israel and Palestine after many broke with Democrats in the 2024 presidential election over the war in Gaza.

In heavily Arab precincts in east Dearborn, an Al Jazeera analysis found Trump received about 45 percent of the vote in 2024, Green Party candidate Jill Stein received 29 percent and Kamala Harris received 16 percent.

Some Arab American activists now say they are backing Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed and Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, both outspoken critics of Israel, while others say the community is keeping its political options open.
