Bicyclist killed, sister critically injured in Ingham County crash

A 12-year-old Williamston boy died Saturday after an SUV struck him and his 13-year-old sister as they rode bicycles on Grand River Avenue near North Meech Road in Leroy Township, Michigan State Police said.

The crash occurred around 11:35 a.m. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, while his sister was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both children were wearing helmets.

The driver, a 64-year-old Williamston woman, was not injured. State police said drugs or alcohol do not appear to have contributed, and the investigation remains ongoing.
