Consumers Energy plans weekend Power outages for upgrades
Consumers Energy is set to conduct upgrades on a substation near Alto, michigan, leading to planned Power outages affecting about 1,500 customers this weekend. The outages are expected to occur in the eastern Kent County area near the Ionia County line, between I-96 and BOWNE Center, starting at 11 p.m. Saturday and lasting until as late as 7 a.m. Sunday.
Consumers Energy stated that the work is being done to improve reliability in the area and that they often schedule such work overnight to minimize disruptions to businesses and other activities. Affected customers will receive postcards in the mail alerting them to the planned outage.
