Death metal band to join Billy Strings’ Ionia festival lineup

Cryptopsy will headline the Metal Tent on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the two-day Ionia Freak Fair festival at the Ionia County Fairgrounds. Organizers expect about 28,000 people for the inaugural event.

The Montreal death metal band recorded a guest guitar solo with Billy Strings for a medley marking the 30th anniversary of its 1994 debut album. Strings and Cryptopsy have not yet met in person.

Michigan bands Flesh and Blood Robot and See You Next Tuesday are also scheduled to perform in the Metal Tent. The festival’s lineup includes metal, bluegrass and jam bands.
