DeWitt driver injured in 3-vehicle crash on I-96 near Lansing

A 67‑year‑old DeWitt driver was seriously injured late on Oct. 14 when his 2013 Chevrolet Cruze rear‑ended a police vehicle parked in a closed lane of Interstate 96 while a semi truck was being pulled from a ditch.

The crash occurred at about 10:55 p.m. In the westbound lanes east of Lansing Road, involving three vehicles. Michigan State Police reported that the police vehicle was unoccupied, its emergency lights were on, and Flares had been placed on the roadway.

The driver moved into the right lane to pass the semi truck, hit the police vehicle from behind, then continued into the left lane where he was struck by the semi truck. The semi driver was not injured, and the DeWitt driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries that were not life‑threatening.
