DeWitt man seriously injured in hit-and-run crash on I-69

A 52-year-old man from DeWitt was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on I-69 near M-100 on Friday, September 25, around 9 a.m. The incident occurred when the victim pulled onto the shoulder to check his trailer, and a southbound vehicle struck him, leaving the scene without stopping to check on the victim.

Michigan State Police officials say the suspect vehicle is believed to be a late model gray Jeep Compass SUV from 2017-2023, with heavy front-right damage. Troopers recovered vehicle parts at the scene and are requesting assistance from the public to locate the suspect.

The victim was taken to University of Michigan Health‑Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is asked to call the MSP Lansing post at 517‑322‑1907. The story remains developing and will be updated on News 10 Lansing.
