Eaton County crash on I-69 leaves victim injured, vehicle sought

At 9:00 a.m. troopers from the MSP Lansing Post responded to a car vs pedestrian crash on south I-69 near M-100 highway in Eaton County. A 52‑year‑old male from Dewitt pulled onto the shoulder to check his trailer, and a vehicle traveling south on I‑69 struck him, leaving the scene without stopping to check on the victim. The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to University of Michigan Hospital in Lansing.

Troopers located vehicle parts from the suspected vehicle, a late model 2017‑2023 gray Jeep Compass SUV with heavy front‑right damage. They are requesting assistance from the public to locate the vehicle. If anyone has information about the vehicle or the crash, contact MSP Lansing Post at 517‑322‑1907.
