East Lansing starts annual water main flushing program

East Lansing began its annual water main flushing program Monday in areas west of Abbot Road and north of Wolf Court, Gainsborough Drive and Bessemaur Drive.

The weekday work will continue for two to three weeks from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents may see cloudy or rusty-colored water, which the city says remains safe to drink. Officials recommend avoiding laundry during flushing to prevent stains.
