East Lansing to close roads for MSU homecoming parade

The annual MSU homecoming parade will begin at the intersection of Abbot Road and Burcham Drive at 6 p.m. And finish on Farm Lane at about 7:15 p.m., according to the City of East Lansing.

Road closures will affect several major streets. Abbot Road between Burcham Drive and Grand River Avenue will be closed from 5:30 p.m. To 7:15 p.m., as will Grand River Avenue between Harrison Road and Abbot Road. A second closure on Grand River Avenue between Abbot Road and Collingwood Drive/Farm Lane will begin at 5:45 p.m. And remain closed until 7:15 p.m.

Drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during the afternoon. Residents and guests will have driveway access until 4:30 p.m., and pedestrians can detour along the sidewalk behind Panda Express between Division Street and M.A.C. Avenue. The East Lansing Downtown Development Authority notes that the parade will not use westbound lanes, so construction will not interfere with the route.
