Eaton County had four drug-related deaths in early 2026 report
Drug-related deaths rose across a seven-county Greater Lansing region in the first quarter of 2026, with 48 deaths recorded from January through March, up from 35 during the same period in 2025.
The medical examiner’s report covered Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia, Isabella, Livingston and Shiawassee counties. Eaton County reported four drug-related deaths during the quarter, including two classified as suicides involving combinations of prescription medications.
The report said opioids, fentanyl and amphetamines increased from the first quarter of 2025, and that most deaths involved two or more contributing substances.
