Eaton County prosecutor Doug Lloyd runs for state attorney general
Doug Lloyd, the current Prosecuting Attorney for Eaton County, is the Republican nominee for Michigan Attorney General in the November midterm election. Lloyd, who has served as a prosecutor for 30 years, is challenging incumbent Dana Nessel, who is term-limited.
Lloyd cited his experience leading the Eaton County Economic Crime Unit, which he helped establish in 2003, as relevant to the state role. He stated that the unit has returned $10 million to the community through cases involving consumer protection, organized retail theft, and welfare fraud.
If elected, Lloyd plans to prioritize public safety, organizing retail crime efforts to keep business prices down, and enforcing existing laws consistently. He emphasized the need for the Attorney General's office to work closely with local law enforcement and prosecutors.
