Former Ovid officer charged in Meridian Township domestic case

A former Ovid police officer who sued the city and police chief has been charged with two felonies tied to a July 25 domestic situation, according to court records in Mason.

Jaclyn Allen was arrested by Meridian Township police on a felonious assault charge. An affidavit says she held a .22-caliber rifle at a “low ready” position while trying to force her girlfriend to leave their shared bedroom.

Allen also was charged with cocaine possession after her girlfriend gave police a small metal container that allegedly held cocaine. Allen’s civil case against Ovid Chief Lisa Rosseau and the city was dismissed in March and is under appeal.

Attorneys in the civil case said the criminal charges would not affect the appeal. Allen’s civil attorney declined to comment on the criminal case because he is not representing her on those charges.
