GOP senator says House member should resign amid abuse allegations
U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno said Sunday that Representative Max Miller, his former son-in-law, should not serve in Congress amid domestic abuse allegations involving Moreno’s daughter, Emily Moreno.
Emily Moreno has alleged that Miller hit, threatened and threw scalding water on her while they were married. Miller denied the allegations Sunday and said he would not leave the race before a Wednesday deadline to replace him ahead of the midterm elections.
Democratic lawmakers have also called for Miller to resign and for an ethics investigation into the allegations. Miller has sued Emily Moreno for defamation.
