Greenville woman found dead in Kent County truck, man charged
Holly Kay Luna, 28, of Greenville, was pronounced dead after Kent County sheriff’s deputies found her unresponsive in the passenger seat of a pickup truck on 18 Mile Road in Nelson Township on Monday. A 44-year-old Sand Lake man driving the vehicle has been charged with open murder and carrying a weapon with unlawful intent.
Investigators believe Luna suffered fatal injuries from a bladed weapon while inside the truck in downtown Greenville before it traveled into Kent County. The investigation began when a family member in Arkansas reported concerns about Luna’s safety after hearing an altercation during a phone call.
Greenville and Kent County police reconstructed the truck’s movements using surveillance footage and witness accounts, which showed erratic driving and an apparent altercation at the intersection of Washington and Lafayette streets. The suspect was treated for serious injuries at a Grand Rapids hospital before being lodged in the Kent County Jail.
