Groups urge RCMP to disclose gun details from Tumbler Ridge shooting

Five gun‑control advocacy groups have urged the RCMP to release details about the firearms used in the February 10 mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., arguing that public transparency can help prevent future tragedies.

In a September 14 letter addressed to RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme, the groups—PolySeSouvient, Angie’s Angels, Canadian Doctors for Protection Against Guns, Danforth Families for Safe Communities, and the Quebec Mosque—requested information on the make, model, type, classification, and legal status of the weapons seized from the assailant’s home, as well as related magazines, prohibited devices, ammunition, and accessories.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Kris Clark responded that the investigation remains active, but the agency is committed to providing answers when available; he cited a July 7 statement that firearms assessments were being completed and noted that the absence of disclosed details does not indicate a lack of information.
