Ingham sheriff urges drivers to use caution around school buses

Students returned to class Wednesday in Holt as more Michigan school districts prepare to resume classes in the coming weeks. Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth urged drivers to slow down and remain focused around buses, especially when children are boarding or leaving.

Drivers must stop at least 20 feet behind a bus when its red lights flash and stop arm extends, allowing students time and space to cross safely. Officials warned that speeding or distraction could put children at risk and lead to a ticket or worse.
