Maryland governor warns Trump could interfere in midterm elections

Maryland Gov. Wes Moore said he is “very concerned” President Donald Trump could use federal power to affect the fall midterm elections, citing efforts involving mail voting, state voter information and the possible deployment of federal troops or agents to polling places.

Moore, who became chair of the National Governors Association on Saturday, said the bipartisan group has a role in protecting states’ authority to oversee elections under the U.S. Constitution.

Moore also outlined a national service-focused initiative backed by $10 million in philanthropic support, aimed at helping young people enter the workforce through service-oriented work and apprenticeships.
