Medical groups issue vaccine guidance as federal panel remains in limbo

Medical groups have issued recommendations for updated flu, COVID-19 and RSV vaccines after legal disputes left the federal vaccine advisory panel unable to make new recommendations this year. The guidance, published in JAMA, differs in some areas from the Trump administration’s official guidance.

The groups recommend COVID-19 vaccination for all adults, annual flu vaccination for everyone 6 months and older, and RSV vaccination for adults 75 and older and some younger people at increased risk. They said the vaccines reduce serious illness and that no new safety concerns were identified. Insurance coverage and state rules may affect access, particularly for COVID-19 shots.
