Former MSU resident physician arrested on sexual assault charges

On Thursday night, 39‑year‑old Arpit Saxena was arrested at Hartsfield‑Jackson Atlanta International Airport on charges of third‑degree and fourth‑degree criminal sexual conduct. MSU Police and Public Safety announced the arrest during a press conference Friday, and the suspect is currently held in the Clayton County Jail in Georgia awaiting extradition.

The investigation began on April 3, 2025, when police were called to the MSU Health Care facility on Hagadorn to meet a woman who reported sexual assault by Saxena. Authorities identified at least two victims, and the suspect was removed from patient care on April 7, 2025, and later dismissed by the university. The investigation was completed on August 28, 2025, and a warrant was filed that same day.

MSU Police Chief Mike Yankowski said the department has notified several departments, including the Center for Survivors, Office of Civil Rights, MSU Healthcare, Inc., and MSU Human Resources. Police are asking anyone who may be a victim to contact 844‑99‑MSUPD or send an email to [email protected]. MSU Healthcare is contacting all patients who were seen by Saxena, and the Office for Civil Rights offers support 24 hours a day through the Center for Survivors at 517‑372‑6666.
