Michigan cyclospora outbreak slows as case totals continue to rise
Michigan has recorded 14,277 cyclosporiasis cases and 335 hospitalizations since an outbreak began in June, state health officials said Thursday. Two people have died. New cases are slowing, but officials continue to track illnesses as the investigation remains active.
Most exposures occurred in late June or early July, and health officials said contaminated produce is likely no longer available. Federal officials said iceberg lettuce linked to the outbreak is off the market, while additional cases may still be added to state and national totals.
