Michigan man jailed in child abuse investigation spanning two states

A 38-year-old Michigan man was arrested after a joint investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of children and the production and transmission of child sexual abuse material. Investigators said Kenneth Conkle was arrested in Van Buren County and is being held on $2 million bond.

Authorities said Conkle allegedly directed and recorded the abuse of two young children in Florida and also sexually abused his own 1-year-old daughter. Detectives seized a cellphone, two computers and a tablet from his home for forensic examination.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be authorized as authorities review the seized devices and work with state and federal partners.
