Montcalm County voters renew extension and conservation millage

Montcalm County voters approved a four-year renewal of a joint millage funding Michigan State University Extension, 4-H programs and the county's Conservation District, according to results from Tuesday's election. The measure passed 7,666 votes to 5,997, or about 56.75% to 43.25%.

The renewed millage will continue at .20 mills, with MSU Extension and 4-H receiving two-thirds of the revenue, an estimated $373,555 in the first year, and the Conservation District receiving the remaining third, about $186,777 in its first year.

The renewed millage will run for four years, from 2027 through 2030, continuing funding for local youth, agriculture and conservation programs.
