Nor’easter cuts power and disrupts travel across Northeast

A powerful autumn storm battered the northeastern United States on Sunday, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and flooding threats to New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Nearly 80,000 customers across six states were without power early Sunday, while a reported death in Brooklyn was linked to a falling tree.

The storm forced hundreds of flight cancellations, including 171 at Boston's Logan airport, and prompted travel waivers from major airlines. Cultural events were also canceled as forecasters warned of coastal flooding, high waves and more rain through the weekend.
