Polymarket to Halt Michigan sports contracts by Nov. 25

Polymarket US will stop offering sports event contracts in Michigan, with all open positions closing by the end of the day on Nov. 25, the Michigan Gaming Control Board announced Wednesday. The move makes Polymarket the fourth prediction market platform to reach an agreement with state regulators to shutter certain contracts in the state this year.

In exchange for halting the contracts and closing customer positions, the state agreed not to take further enforcement action against Polymarket. Attorney General Dana Nessel said the state is holding the national sports betting industry accountable to Michigan law by ensuring gaming occurs in licensed and regulated ways.

Polymarket is the latest in a series of enforcement actions by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, following similar agreements with Robinhood in September and Coinbase in October. The board also won a preliminary injunction against Kalshi earlier this year, though a hearing on that matter is set for Nov. 24 in Ingham County Circuit Court.
