Residents seek answers after Hillsborough property tax increase
More than 500 Hillsborough Township residents have joined a grassroots group formed after this year’s property tax increase. At a recent council meeting, residents asked for information about municipal spending and proposed raising revenue or cutting long-term expenses to reduce future tax bills.
Mayor Catherine Payne said rising state-level costs contributed to the increase. Residents said the higher bills are adding to broader cost-of-living pressures, particularly for people living on fixed incomes.
