Senators seek investigation into AI errors in military targeting

Sens. Mark Warner, Jack Reed and Chris Coons asked defense and intelligence officials to investigate mistakes in AI-assisted military targeting, citing a false report that nearly led to the interception of a Chinese cargo ship in the Middle East.

The senators requested unrestricted access for inspectors general to examine that incident and another reported case involving outdated intelligence before a deadly U.S. Strike on a school in Iran. They also called for greater public transparency about the findings.
