Trump announces Greenland security agreement with Denmark
President Donald Trump announced Friday a security deal with Denmark and Greenland that he said addresses U.S. Concerns involving the island. Danish and Greenlandic officials said the agreement would respect Greenland’s right to self-determination and Danish sovereignty.
The announcement appeared to ease tensions that had strained the transatlantic alliance after Trump said he intended to acquire Greenland. The island remains a growing geopolitical arena as Russia and China deepen cooperation in the Arctic.
