Storms damage park pavilion and building near Williamston

A line of strong storms caused severe damage Thursday at Lake Lansing Park South and a former Habitat for Humanity ReStore building west of Williamston. Wind gusts approached 70 mph in some areas, while other parts of Mid-Michigan received heavy rain.

The building’s front was badly damaged, and trees and power lines fell nearby. At Lake Lansing, storm damage included numerous trees and the destruction of a pavilion. Crews were working to clear debris, while thousands remained without power.
