U.S. stocks climb as lower yields lift technology shares

U.S. stocks rose Thursday as Treasury yields declined and Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller indicated he could support leaving interest rates unchanged at the central bank’s next meeting if inflation continues to cool. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 1.18%, the S&P 500 rose 1.06% and the Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.40%.

Technology and software shares led the gains. Tesla rose 5.42% after unveiling a vehicle designed for driverless ride-hailing, while SpaceX gained 6.42%. Broadcom fell 2.74%, and several major artificial-intelligence platforms reported widespread service disruptions during the session.
