Trump hosts Xi at White House for state dinner

President Donald Trump welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping to the White House for a state dinner Thursday evening, held in the East Room. The ceremony featured remarks from both leaders and a guest list that included tech and industry executives such as Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sundar Pichai, Michael Dell, Jensen Huang, Sam Altman, Jane Fraser, and Tim Cook.

Earlier that day, Trump and Xi met for about 90 minutes behind closed doors, discussing issues ranging from artificial intelligence safety to trade and critical minerals. The state dinner was followed by a private tea and a tour of the National Archives on Friday, where Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan were expected to view historical documents.

During his remarks, Xi thanked Trump for the warm hospitality and emphasized the importance of healthy competition and cooperation. He also announced that two giant pandas, Ping-Ping and Fu Shuang, would soon travel to Zoo Atlanta, symbolizing the growing friendship between the two nations.
