Trump administration asks supreme court to revive third-country deportations

The Trump administration asked the US supreme court to allow it to deport immigrants to countries other than their own, after a federal appeals court upheld a ruling that found the policy unlawful.

Attorney general Todd Blanche said the Justice Department would seek relief from the court, which previously granted a stay in the case. Administration officials have deported more than 25,000 migrants to at least 29 third countries, according to Third Country Deportation Watch.
