Webberville considers restoring its police department

Webberville officials will hold a public hearing Monday on whether to re-establish the village’s police department after more than 30 years without one. The village’s contract with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office expires at the end of the year.

The proposed department would employ two full-time officers, providing the same 80 hours of weekly service the village currently receives under its county contract. Residents will be able to comment before officials decide whether to proceed.
