Army secretary Dan Driscoll resigns amid Pentagon disputes

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to the White House, which accepted it, and is expected to leave in the coming days. Driscoll has held the post since February 2025 and is a close associate of Vice President JD Vance.

Driscoll had differed with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over Army transformation and readiness. His departure follows the ouster of other senior Defense Department officials, including the Navy secretary and the Army chief of staff, earlier this year.
