Benson and Swanson seek Democratic nomination for Michigan governor
Michigan voters will choose between Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson in next week’s Democratic gubernatorial primary.
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is term-limited. Benson has focused her campaign on affordability and making state government work better for residents, while Swanson has emphasized his working-class background and crisis management experience.
Michigan has not elected back-to-back Democratic governors since the 1960s.
