C. Cybele Raver chosen as University of Michigan’s next president

The University of Michigan Board of Regents announced that C. Cybele Raver will become the university’s 17th president, pending a formal board vote Sept. 1. She is set to take office Dec. 1.

Raver has served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at Vanderbilt University since 2021 and previously held academic leadership roles at New York University, the University of Chicago and Cornell University.

She will succeed interim President Domenico Grasso, who has led the university since former President Santa Ono’s departure in May 2025. Grasso is expected to remain in the role through Nov. 30.
