Woman pleads guilty to nearly $100,000 in fraudulent rent aid applications

A Southfield woman pleaded guilty Tuesday in Ingham County’s 30th District Court to submitting nearly $100,000 in fraudulent applications for COVID emergency rental assistance. Mariah Davis, 34, pleaded to false pretenses involving $50,000 or more but less than $100,000 and using a computer to commit a crime.

Davis agreed to pay $98,282.20 in restitution and had paid $20,000 at the time of her plea. Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 7 under a delayed sentencing agreement; the computer-crime charge will be dismissed if she pays the full restitution before the agreement ends.
