Family disputes design of Belding veteran memorial bench

A disagreement over the design and installation of a memorial bench honoring a local Vietnam veteran has left his family at odds with the Belding Veterans Park Committee.

Dawn Klein, a Belding native who now lives in Grand Rapids, addressed the Belding City Council on Sept. 1 to explain her concerns about a bench honoring her late brother, Ted Klein.

The bench, intended to commemorate Ted Klein, has become a point of contention as the family seeks to ensure the design meets community expectations.
