Former Eaton County representative joins Benson’s gubernatorial ticket
Michigan Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks is joining Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson as the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor in the November election. The ticket will face Republican John James and Rep. Jay DeBoyer.
Brinks represented a large portion of Eaton County in Michigan’s House from 2013 to 2018 before joining the state Senate. She is Michigan’s first female Senate majority leader. Benson said Brinks’ legislative experience would help address the needs of farmers and small-business owners.
