Gold steadies as Fed rate outlook weighs on market
Gold Spot prices were little changed at $4,344.29 per ounce as of 0151 GMT, while U.S. Gold futures steadied at $4,381.80. Investors are watching Fed officials for clues on whether the central bank will raise rates again in October.
The Fed raised its policy rate by a quarter of a percentage point last week and signaled potential hikes in the coming months. Fed President Alberto Musalem indicated that an earlier rate increase would help lower inflation driven by strong demand and commodity price shocks.
Oil prices steadied after several days of declines, with market participants anticipating developments on potential U.S.-Iran talks at the United Nations General Assembly. Spot silver rose 0.3% to $66.19, platinum gained 0.3% to $1,792.76, and palladium climbed 0.3% to $1,305.10.
