Judge temporarily clears path for federal mail-ballot control plan

A federal judge on Wednesday lifted a nationwide injunction, allowing President Donald Trump’s effort to exert federal control over mail-in ballots to proceed temporarily ahead of the midterm elections.

The ruling followed a Supreme Court decision favoring Trump in a similar case Monday. Further court action could block key parts of the executive order as litigation continues.
