Karnataka CM claims Congress model inspired US $5,000 plan

Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said the Congress government’s welfare model has inspired similar initiatives in other Indian states and the United States. He said at an event at the Congress office that the model was replicated in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and now the US. He added that the Congress party’s strength is being watched worldwide.

Trump announced a $5,000 payment to every American adult at a Republican midterm convention rally in Dallas on September 9. The payment is part of a broader plan to support American adults if Republicans win both houses in the 2026 midterm elections. He said the money would be spent in the United States, according to USA Today.

Shivakumar also criticized the BJP for misusing Hindutva and the Centre’s Ujjwala scheme, and said Congress serves people regardless of caste or religion. He said some people do this theatrically in the name of religion, and that money meant for Rama had been misappropriated. He vowed to avoid such misuse.
