Michigan cyclosporiasis cases fall sharply as outbreak slows

Michigan reported 190 new cyclosporiasis cases this week, down from 735 the previous week and the lowest weekly total since late June. The outbreak has produced 14,277 cases statewide since late June, including 915 in Ingham County.

State health officials said residents may resume usual food-handling practices but should continue avoiding recalled lettuce. They said most exposures likely occurred in late June and early July, while 335 people had been hospitalized as of Thursday.
