Michigan families urged to strengthen emergency plans

Michigan State Police are urging families to complete a Family Emergency Plan checklist covering evacuation routes, meeting points and important contact information. Ingham County Emergency Management’s Rob Dale recommended keeping written copies of key phone numbers in case cell service becomes unreliable.

The guide also encourages families to plan for power outages, refrigerated medications, essential medical equipment and pets. East Lansing residents said using the checklist helped them identify gaps, including the need for a designated meeting place and shared access to important information.
