Michigan gas prices edge higher before Labor Day travel

Michigan’s average price for regular gasoline rose 1 cent from a week ago to $4.17 per gallon. That is 11 cents below last month’s average but 84 cents above the same time last year.

A 15-gallon fill-up now costs about $62, roughly $11 more than last year’s highest price in August. Metro Detroit’s average fell about 4 cents from last week to $4.17, while prices ranged from $3.99 in the least expensive area to $4.26 in the most expensive.
