Oman inflation reaches 3.2% as food costs climb

Oman’s annual inflation rate rose to 3.2% in July, while average inflation for the first seven months of 2026 stood at 2.9%, according to official data.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages posted the largest increase among major categories, rising 7.3%. Vegetable prices climbed 19.9%, fruit rose 15.8% and meat increased 8.7%. Transport costs rose 6.5%.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels declined 0.6%, while prices for communications, tobacco, and clothing and footwear were unchanged from July 2025. Oman’s economy grew 2.6% year on year in the first quarter, with oil activities up 4.6%.
