Playdate maker refunds tariff fees charged to customers

Panic refunded all tariff fees charged to Playdate customers on Aug. 25 after receiving refunds for tariffs it had paid over the previous year. The company had passed a 19% U.S. import surcharge to buyers rather than absorb the cost.

The refund followed a February Supreme Court ruling that invalidated many U.S. tariffs, including the tariff Panic had been paying on each console. Panic said the surcharge has been removed from new orders, ending the charge for customers.
