Several grocery staples remained pricier in June than a year earlier

Several grocery categories cost more in June 2026 than in June 2025, including beef and veal, fresh vegetables, pork, fruit and nonalcoholic drinks.

Beef and veal prices were 11.8% higher than a year earlier, while fresh vegetables were up 9.9%. Pork rose about 2.4%, fruit was up 2% despite a decline from May to June, and nonalcoholic drinks were 2.9% more expensive.

Forecasts cited in the material project 2026 increases of 10.7% for beef and veal, 6.8% for fresh vegetables, 3.9% for nonalcoholic drinks, 2% for fruit, 1.6% for pork and 7.2% for packaged sugar and candy.
