State approves 90-megawatt solar project in southern Ingham County

The Michigan Public Service Commission approved a settlement allowing Ranger Power LLC to build a 90-megawatt solar facility across Leslie, Onondaga and Vevay townships in southern Ingham County. The project is the first reviewed under Michigan’s state-level renewable energy siting process created by Public Act 233 of 2023.

The agreement sets requirements for noise control, screening, lighting, complaint resolution, tree clearing, decommissioning and farmland restoration. It also includes host-community payments of at least $2,000 per megawatt, funding for drain maintenance and first-responder training, and a labor agreement for construction and maintenance work. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with commercial operation planned for 2028.
